Training and Matches
Any junior cricketer who is in the U13-U15 boys age group becomes part of the West End Esher Academy. This works as a transition between junior and senior cricket, with the aim of progressing cricketers from the Academy into the adult senior sides. To create a smooth changeover, with place a number of academy players in the Sunday Friendly XI, who play 40/40 cricket. The academy players are supported by lead members of the senior sides, with the team focusing on the development of the academy players rather than winning. Academy players still train separately on a Monday night from the senior sides for safety reasons. Girls in the equivalent age groups may become part of the Academy if their lead coach feels that they are able enough to do so.
Dates for training sessions will be confirmed shortly.
How do I join?
If you would like to sign up from the start of the season, simply download the membership form. Then please then print out the Junior Membership Form which can also be found on the ship, and return this to the signing-in desk on the first session.
What kit do I need?
Junior cricketers may wear any appropriate sportswear for training sessions, but are required to wear West End Esher kit for matches. A selection of West End Esher branded cricket wear is available to purchase from our kit supplier “A Sporting Choice” which can be found in Hersham high street. It is recommended that players have their own kit: pads, gloves, helmet, bat and box for training. These items are essential for participation in adult matches. Don't forget to bring water, sun cream and a hat for the hotter days!
