Colts Cricket

Boys and Girls (U5-U14) , see separate Girls cricket section

We provide over 100 junior cricketers with the opportunity to play competitive cricket in a fun and supportive environment. Our Level 2 UKCC qualified coaches formulate progressive, safe and age and ability appropriate sessions, which are conducted by a group of experienced DBS-checked coaches who are assisted by academy players. We pride ourselves on an extremely impressive coach to cricketer ratio, so that we are able to focus on every cricketers individual requirements.

Matches

U11,U12, U13 and U14 all compete in the highly competitive West Surrey Youth T20 League. Most matches are played on a Sunday, participating players meeting at 9:30am for a 10am start. We have a policy of equal opportunities, with every player getting to bat, bowl and field. We aim to make sure that every junior cricketer within each of these age groups plays the same number of matches within a season where possible. The Lead Coach or Age Group Manager will ask for availability each week and select a team from this list.

Girls have the opportunity to play up to 2 age groups down in mixed teams as well as in the girls only matches.

Senior Colts who have displayed the relevant skills and behaviours will have the opportunity to play adult cricket in either the Saturday or Sunday teams based on their ability and the needs of the adults teams at the time.

Winter Nets

A number of junior cricketers within the match playing age groups are invited to winter nets, at Reeds School, Cobham, for 11 weeks of indoor training on a Friday evening from February to April.

How do I join?

We have an introduction evening on 24 April at the times referred to on the left. If you would like to sign up from the start of the season, the best way to do this is to download an app called Teamo from the App Store or Google play and follow the sign up instructions. Alternatively you can do so via the desktop version at   https://teamo.chat/club/register/weecc and buy the appropriate membership option. If the season has already commenced, please email the Junior Chairman at junior chairman@weecc.co.uk  to make sure that there is still a space available in the appropriate age group for your child.

What kit do I need?

Junior cricketers are required to wear a West End Esher shirt for training sessions and white trousers for matches. A selection of West End Esher branded cricket wear is available to purchase from our kit supplier “A Sporting Choice” which can be found in Hersham high street. It is not necessary for players to purchase equipment as we have kit bags for all age groups. However, this is limited and we would encourage players to purchase their own bat. The younger age groups (U6-U9) play pairs cricket with a tennis, wind or incrediball (soft ball) so there is no need to purchase, helmet, gloves or pads. The older age groups (U10-U14) play with a hard ball so must at the very least own a box. Don’t forget to bring water, sun cream and a hat for the hotter days!

Can I leave my children for the duration of the session?

Parents cannot leave children in the U6-U10 age groups due to the fact that there are roads on all sides of the green. Parents may ask another parent to keep an eye on their child but they must inform the lead coach of the age group of this agreement. Parents of the U11 age group and upwards may leave the premises, but MUST return on time  to sign their children out.

What is the cost?

Subscription of £150 for the first child followed by £110 for siblings,  payment is made through the club management Teamo site, and includes a years membership of the West End Sports and Social Club for the whole family.
